Why
We Host This Ride
The Kenosha Racine
Bike Club is hosting a recreational ride for all ages to support
bicycling in the Racine and Kenosha Counties. In 2009, the
proceeds of this ride will support the following groups:
The
Earn-a-Bike program run by RECycle in Racine
RECycle, the Root
River Environmental Education Community Center, promotes environmental
education and offers equipment rental, including bicycles, for use on and
around the Root River and Lake Michigan. They also teach children
ages 10-17 years old basic bicycle maintenance and safety as a means to
help them learn how to be more responsible.
Washington
Park Velodrome
The Washington Park
Velodrome, operated by the Kenosha Velodrome Association, is the oldest
operating velodrome in the USA. The velodrome is a 333 meter asphalt track
nestled in a bowl-shaped natural terrain in Kenosha. The Kenosha
Velodrome Association hosts Citizen Stock Bike Races. Proceeds from
the 2009 KR Bike Club annual ride will be given to the Kenosha Velodrome
Association for maintenance of the Velodrome and to purchase loaner bikes.
Bicycle
Federation of Wisconsin
One dollar of each
registration will go directly to this 501(c)(3) education and advocacy
membership-based organization dedicated to making Wisconsin a better place
to bicycle.
